When I first loaded up the game and got my settings adjusted, I proceeded to create myself a Male character with which I played with on a server for 30 mins roughly.
I logged out to do something for 5 minutes then logged back in, my male character loaded fine then I joined the same server, within 10 seconds I got the red text 'No message received for'which from experience means the server is rebooting.
I exited the game fully back to the windows 8.1 desktop and then loaded up DayZ again and my character on the main menu was a female so I though 'Oh right, I'll just change my character again so I went into the character menu and set-up my male character again, clicked set as default then back to main menu where my male character proceeds to change back to the female character. On a couple of occasions no character shows on the main menu at all, but no matter what I try when I load into a server I am always the female character and I can do nothing to change this. This has resulted in me completely losing my first male character and all progress with him.

I have tried deleting both folders from my documents (DayZ & DayZ Other Profiles) and letting DayZ reproduce them but the same thing happens. I have also validated my files through steam to no avail.

I can still play the game but I can't see a way around the issue hence, I am reporting it.
