Whenever I try to launch Arma 3 from the launcher, the loading bar goes to half-way and then it crashes. Then I get "Arma 3 has exited in an unusual manner" followed by exit code: 0xC0000409

have you already tried to verify the integrity of your game cache with Steam?
If yes, then try to delete the launcher directory in the Arma 3 directory and re-verify the integrity of your game cache (will download the deleted launcher files again).
The developers are currently investigating the issue. Could you please provide them with your dxdiag so they can make sure its not drivers related? You can find how to get your dxdiag file here:

Are you running any mods? If so please try to disable them. Should the problem occur again, please export your game log files from the launcher.
Steps on how to export logs from ARMA 3 Launcher:
Please note that it might take some time for files to collect.
Attach the generated files to the ticket. If the files are too big please use some free file sharing service.
Same issues with and without mods, bit of a downer as i don't get much chance to game and when i do its ARMA 3 but now its crashing randomly... other games are working fine.

Backup and clear %localappdata%\Arma 3\ and Documents\Arma 3
Reinstall the game completely
OK will take a proper look at the thread when I'm back home. Seems to be a recurring problem for a month or two now. I have already tried re-installation and wiping of documents and appdata folders with no joy... Not really wanting to install Windows 10 again. Will post my results and get back to you in the week.
Edit.....
currently reinstalling the game, i have deleted everything with the words 'ArmA 3' or 'Bohemia Interactive' in both the main hard drive and also everything related to these in the registry(REGEDIT)! will let you know as soon as i know more... seemed to be an awful lot of registry keys for arma 3.
Seems a bit extreme but i want my game running right ... Fingers crossed.
Ok so have been playing the game with mods on the FT-2 Server for five hours now and no issues whatsoever.
Will see what happens.

played around seven hours and no issues with in game crashing!

Ok so now after many hours im getting a different crash bug.
Beginning to wander why i bother... i have purchased the supporter edition twice and all previous games and content.. finally getting sick of it due to these issues.
