If you have a vehicle with inventory, a vest and a backpack, you can dupe any item with simple steps.

Steps To Reproduce

Get in vehicle.
Put your pistol (or any item) on your backpack.
From backpack to vest. The item will not appear on the vest.
Close inventory.
Open inventory.
From backpack to vehicle inventory.
Close inventory.
Get out of the vehicle.
Open inventory, you will have your item on your vest and on vehicle inventory.
