I have never been into real combat without my earplugs they were an inspectable item nearly as important as my weapon. They had a small hole in them to allow speech and closer low level sounds into your ear and a rotatable flap that closed this hole for when in vehicles and decibel level over 70-90 to be excruciating after long exposure. (some even built into communication devices). However they prevent the concussion of extremely loud concussive noises like Helicopter rotor, grenades, gunfire, etc.. from damaging your ears and causing tinnitus and hearing loss. Arma 3 is missing them completely relying on mods and scripting to reproduce these effects. This leads to more unstable gameplay if done improperly and additional downloads that could potentially corrupt your game or worse OS. And I have yet to see any hardware that stop helicopter rotors from being unbearable when in flight. The only solution so far is to enter the game menu turn down Effects in audio config greatly reducing "realism" in game making combat footsteps/movement and enemy voice chatter quieter as well.

Play Arma 3
Please include Earplugs as an Item in game that have 3 options. 1 complete sound reduction reducing all sound level to a predetermined "Max" simulating fully closed cheap earplugs that many receive preflight on nearly all U.S. military transport. 2. An additional built in helmet system (I have seen them before with small slits in over ear protection that were optionally closeable when expecting sustained firefights and CQB situations where your buddies muzzle may be close to your head) that allow in game voice chat to be transmitted to the user at normal levels while blocking out outside noise (like many real helmet radio systems already in use today). 3 no earplugs/temporarily removed with full listening levels so you can recon enemy positions through audio contact (which is also a real tactic). You may not be able to see through the bushes you are hiding in but an enemies footsteps and gear clatter while moving are often very well utilized queues in battle.
