To add Arma 3 mod usage much needed simplicity i am going to give an example to BIS how to do this.
Many players don't want to struggle to get in to servers to play with friends, and the fact is that many do struggle today. I am not going to go in to the lack of information you get when failing to join a server, but this is also an issue.
But to add simplicity to mod usage BIS can do the following.
- Add a Server browser in the Arma 3 Launcher
- Add automatic mod detection up against Steam workshop when joining a server. Then ask (if available in steam workshop) to download and use the mods.
(Manual selected mods should still be active, to add mods that are not in steam workshop)
- Add check box to turn on and off autoimatic mod detection
- Add a launcher to Arma 3 Dedicated server with the same capability against Steam Workshop, and possibility to manipulate settings for the server in the launcher for easy use.
This is not much work and should have been implemented ages ago to Arma.
For the new players and even experienced players the mod's can be quite a frustration.
This will also make a already available platform like Steam workshop live up to it's potential.
I can only hope that BIS takes this seriously and help the mod players and creates make a better Arma Thomorow.
