Walking (W+S) backwards with a pistol or binoculars produces two times the normal footstep sounds, as in the footstep sounds are too rapid for the actual animation

  1. Wield a pistol or some binoculars
  2. Toggle walk (W+S)
  3. Make sure your pistol is raised
  4. Move Backwards

This also occurs for walking sideways with binoculars
and combat pace crouch-walking sideways with a pistol

There is another issue with double footstep sounds if you are in crouch stance and strafe sideways in combat pace with a pistol in your hands.

I haven't reproduced your issue, so I can't give you an upvote for now.

Yes, it seems there are double footprints as well, but only for the right foot...
