Collective Lag
New, WishlistPublic

Description

When using the standard raise/lower collective controls (not analog) there is a floating or lag effect on the collective. It should a uniform speed throughout (the top speed reachable right now is the perfect speed and should be what it starts at)

Steps To Reproduce

Using the standard raise/lower collective with a keyboard or controller, attempt to raise and lower the collective. There is significant float or lag before the control reaches full speed. This lag needs to be removed.

This is also probably related to an issue with the standard model where if you land and turn the engine off (then releasing collective), the collective will raise (and cause the aircraft to slip/fly) EVEN when the engine is audibly close to being completely off.

You can of course hold the collective down when the engine is shut, but that shouldn't be necessary as you cannot raise the collective that high with that low engine power.

This issue is easily reproduced with the MH-9, and here's a short demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6acUs0aOtE&feature=youtu.be

The engine shutdown should restrict the collective much more.

Also, this is probably due to the collective lag from 0% (collective down) to 50% (no key pressed, "neutral") lagging.

That's not what this ticket is referring to.

As far as I can tell it was a failed attempt to allow for slight variations in collective settings during cruise flight in AFM.

All it does is not allow you to manipulate the collective fast enough for landing and hovering.

But what do I know? I only fly these things in real life...

It wasn't the side of the issue that you referred to, but I do believe this is another side of the same mechanic. I'll do some more testing and then decide if this is worth doing in another ticket.

Unfortunately, this is still an issue.

There is simply no reason for the collective acceleration.
