I usually do it that way: Move soldier position to the dead body, open soldier inventory, so I can pick some stuff for him from dead body. Then I replace soldier rifle with one located on dead body(for ex. I had medic, but I want him to be a sniper). After rearming, probably when game was autosaved, rearmed soldier doesn't react on commands. He can only speak, but staying on one place.
