With growing number of mods adding uniforms, weapons, items etc., it would be great to make it easier to distinguish objects and declutter lists of entries.
One example is the Virtual Arsenal. As it is now, every object with scope = public; is listed as a seperate entry, even if they are mostly identical (different textures, same attributes otherwise).
You have already made it easier to select scopes, barrel attachments, supressors etc.
This idea could greatly be enhanced by adding another category, a sort of variety selector. Say my mod has 15 different HK G3A3 weapon finishes, and since they come with the option of having an underbarrel grenade launcher, that's 30 entries in the main weapon category. If I could group them in the config, there'd be 2 entries in the main weapon selector:
HK G3A3 and HK G3A3 GL
The different look / stock / etc. options would then be available - just like scopes and supressors from the submenu on the right.
Same thing for the ingame inventory, say ammo boxes. If I drop a box full of said example HK G3A3s, people will have 30 different list entries to sort through before getting to anything other than those. If they were grouped into one, with a grouping indicator next to the item count, and the different varieties be shown once you click on the actual item, the list would be far easier to browse.
Yes, it would require another mouse click, but it takes far longer to scroll down any reasonably equipped ammo box / vehicle inventory / backpack.
Attached is a zip with 2 example images, one showing the resulting look in the Virtual Arsenal, the other on the ingame inventory. {F24863}
