Units gain armor from entering static weapons
New, WishlistPublic

Description

Note: have not tested this with other players (only AI) but I assume it works the same way

Despite the fact that entering a static Mortar, HMG, GMG, etc only requires the gunner to place his hands on the weapon, the gunner gains considerable armor while in the weapon.

This is most notable while firing on them with Thermobaric weapons (such as AP rockets from jets & launchers) and observing falling damage.
Weapons such as the AP rockets on jets (which do damage via large area of effect) can destroy huge swaths of men, but static weapon gunners remain unscathed.
Additionally, a static weapon can fall from great heights, but the gunner suffers no damage (as far as I'm aware).

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Place a group of units, consisting of both regular infantry and static weapons (HMG - raised) is a good one, since the gunner's stance closely resembles a regular man's upright position
  1. Fly a CAS jet of the opposing side (if units are OPFOR, fly A164; if units are BLUFOR, fly To199)
  1. Fire AP (Thermobaric) rockets near or at the groups of units
  1. Notice that infantry are obliterated by the rockets; however the static weapon gunners do not die and require many more rockets to kill.
Additional Information

It would appear that entering a static HMG as gunner grants armor in the same way that entering a vehicle would.
