If you leave the swim stance and went back on foot, you charakter starts doing strange movement to start walking. It take ages to raise your weapon and get fully controll of your soldier.
It's a pain in a combat situation and even without a situation like this, it does destroy the 'feeling' in a scenario.

Same for getting in the water, take quite a while to start swimming.
