Pretty simply, I find it odd that:

After you adjust left (Ctrl+a) then move your character around, he will move slowly, similar to when you are leaning left/right+moving.

If you adjust right (Ctrl+d), however, you will move at a normal speed, similar to being centered, and adjusting up(Ctrl+w) or down(Ctrl+s)+moving.
