When you are seat in arty position, in any veicols,you can see the aim optic to hit always to the left from the center point...especially in gunner machine mode.
And when you zoom this problem become huge becoming frustrating sometime.
It's more noticiable if you are inside a Tank, because usually we engage from long distance...of course!
I believe this is because the camera or view point is not inside the barrel but rather beside it. Meaning they do not line up. I could be wrong though.

May be you right about the barrel, but anyway, i dont think then happen in real life!
If you think about the weapons on the wings,if we talking about planes for example,there is convergence for compensate the displacement of the machine guns for hit exactly to the AIM center point.
I think then this sistem it's still use in all weapons where the accommodations are not central!
