Multiplayer REMOTE menu option does not work.

Description

The REMOTE option when connecting to a server only adds those details to a filter for Gamespy. Gamespy is a waste of time when I only want to connect to my friends non dedicated server for us two to play on.

Why can I not just connect to his IP address?
