Steps To Reproduce

in the description
Played a custom MP Co-op mission with a single friend (no add-ons or special scripts)
clicked on U and choose a different character
Graphics appears distorted (everything was squared) and remained that way even after I waited for 10 minutes
team switching again did not help
quitting the mission - I noticed the game slowed down
I had to restart the game to make it work again

tried it a second time with another mission and it happened again
