Teambuilding with large group of AI units
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In another thread a moderator responded that ARMA3 is able to automatically organize AI units into teams in respect to their rank: 'automatically within a rank hierarchy, groups are split into teams automatically'. I have tried to reproduce this but without success.

The question is: does ARMA3 feature a simple chain-of-command with AI units? To allow a human player to give orders to teamleaders instead of grouped AI units. Organizing units the way ARMA2 did (only option: create red, blue, green manually) was not effective with a high number of AI units. Was this improved with ARMA3?

Many thanks in advance! {F22029}

Steps To Reproduce

1.) With map editor I created 4 default rifle teams consisting of several individual AI units.

2.) Change the rank of the squad leader to 'major'

3.) Add a single unit as player.

4.) Change the rank of the player to 'colonel'

5.) Preview game. Result: Player is not in control of AI units.

6.) Per drag and drop units are now directly assigned to the player. Resulting in 30 individual AI units under the player's command. Now I would assume that the automated teambuilding feature will organize the units into teams.

7.) Preview game. Result: Player has 30+ AI units in direct command. Without any teams and chain-of-command. Orders have to be given to each AI unit individually. Grouping into red, blue, green teams has to be done manually.

Simple use High-Command module.
synchronize High-Command Commander module to player and synchronize for each group a High-Command Subordinate module to the teamleader. After that only synchronize the HC Sumordinate modules to HC Commander module.

Thanks a lot! Exactly what I was loking for. Here is another good description of the feature: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW48rX5-Nig
