Looks like he autoswitching to rifle without proper animation. Either the proper animation needed or he must not switch weapon.

In editor add two soldiers:

  1. AT soldier, player, not in formation, not in group.
  2. Any soldier, playable, not in formation, not in group.

Preview.
Switch to launcher.
Team switch to companion and look to AT soldier.
