We should be able to make them way larger than what we have now. Way up to completely dangerous conditions for large boats. Then we could have some epic storms, boat missions and diver para-drops!
Event Timeline
When we had much stronger waves it brought many other bugs - visual intersecting of shore objects, and bad collisions for ships and swimmers.
My thinking behind larger waves is to help with the atmosphere of a stormy mission wether that means a storm is causing these large waves to come near the island or the storm is on and around the island. Rogue waves are also now thought to be a more common occurrence even in the medeterainian. Waves can be very high in medeterainian though I understand there are various issues in game that need to be resolved first to make this a reality.
It would take work, but I fully support this ticket and do believe it would be well worth the effort. Maybe a DLC/Expansion with huge waves, better storms and actual naval ships? That would be fucking awesome. Pitch it to your CEO or something!
In the game is no effect of wind on objects. If the game put a sailboat, it will not float and will stand still. Wind should move objects.
Guys take a look at the performance. To calculate the effect of wind to objects would cost to much performance, it would be enough if wind and waves would affect planes, helicopters (I am sure this will come with the new DLC) and also ships. Some enviroment effects like paper and leafes flying around the cities and streers would underline the effect of the weather.
nobody asked for molecule-exact particle wind effect, and no, its not too performance heavy, just pick up the enviroment wind direction and strenght, and make it effect on every bullet, air vehicle, sometimes boat, flag, and smoke grenade that there is out there
I think it would help with the collision issue if the waves' height was linked to their spacing. For example, larger waves would have large spacing. So you could have little, bumpy waves and large, rolling waves. The type you would think of in an epic amphibious assault with AAVs and LCACS cresting the waves.
