I was under the impression this issue has been fixed.
When my friend and I played coop a few nights ago his climb on a quad bike as the driver. And I climbed on as the passenger. He was lying flat on his back with is feet pointing towards me and I was sitting correctly.

So this still seems to be a problem. It is simular to the slump forward posistion I also saw recently while my friend was driving a vehicle.
