You should be able to add or choose a time and a place which would have skybox effects such as the aura borealis, meteor showers, lunar and solar eclipses which would affect light levels and rainbows.

I think it be amazing to experience a total solar eclipse while fighting during the day with everything going dark, the aura borealis and meteor showers would make night time missions more enjoyable than looking at a generic night sky.
