In the army, many soldiers have a tracer round either half way through the magazine or as the last/penultimate bullet so they know when they are about to run out of ammo.
Although you can just check your UI to see how many bullet you have in your magazine in Arma 3, it would be nice for immersion.

This is already implemented on the last 5 rounds of any normal 30rd Stanag.
Just start up the editor, place a Rifleman unit, control it and fire off the mags. There'll be tracers near the end.
Tracer rounds already exist in many of the magazines(at least the ones that have them in real life)
