I would like to request this feature natively in ArmA3. Being able to switch your view distance on the fly without leaving the game.
For the most part, playing infantry I am fine with a view distance of up to 2000, it is really more than enough, however at any given time if I decide to fly a chopper during a mission or have play the helicopter showcase, player needs to see a lot further than 2km, so I have to up the view distance to about 4000-5000 and drop the object and terrain quality from very hight to high/normal just to make it playable as well as gain the extra range. But problem being it is too much of a pain to always go to options and change these settings.
being an avid player of wasteland, I found in the player control menu by pressing the "`" key, UI menu provides the player with the option to switch your view distance without leaving the game and automatically configures the object quality as well it seems. So i would like to see a similar option implimented in game with preset view distances and object/terrain quality. for those of us who do not own the latest and best rigs that can generate a 12km viewdistance at max.
Also importantly, while upping the view distance, it should allow to bring down your terrain and objects quality, and that shouldnt be a problem since it seems to take effect ingame without requiring a restart. but seriously not changing these two important things will just be pointless for the effort.
also bear in mind when setting the view distance in game, I would suggest the distance to reveal itself over a period of time (in seconds), having to reveal the distance instantly between 2200 and 6000 can be pretty distracting and of putting, so best it happen like the slider effect, revealing 200m every second until it reaches the preset distance.
this right here would be soo helpful as a work around to the performance issues, since ARMA is soo resource hungry and not everyone can afford the hardware required to max the game out.
