Stepping over near a wall of a building will sometimes allow you to move through it. Your character will act like the wall is not there.

Go inside of a building. Go to a wall where you know there is no obstacles on the other side. Press "v" and your character should walk through the wall

Same with H-barriers and other solid obstacles, you often can get through them that way.
