Sometimes you may be walking and looking around and automatically spot a mine which gives you instant 3d spotting without even actually knowing there was a mine there.

To disable automatically spotting mines and the accompanying HUD item go to Options -> Game -> Difficulty. Disable auto reporting and show detected mines on the difficulty setting you use. Default is Regular.
