AI's detection seems to be entirely based on distance, and perhaps the direction they are facing. They'll see you through heavy brush, entire hills, HESCO barriers, pretty much anything.

They can also spot your head in a scuba suit from 500m away, although there are waves

I can confirm this ! It is unbelievable how many times the enemy shot me through all kinds of objects. Especially the HESCO Sandbags ! I was even shot trough a housing block in the marina bay.
