Graphic Card over-heat while the game paused
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

While the game is paused (ESC key), the card over-heat. The longer I stay in pause (for example to change options) the louder the GC's fan (indicating the card is heating).

I fail to see how your card overheating is the games problem? It's using your card, which makes it heat up. :)

Probably you have vsync disabled and the gpu is rendering like 100-200 fps in menu, which makes it overheat.
Just enable vsync in options.

vSync is enabled; I don't know how to display the frame rate yet in arma3 but it shouldn't heat my GC on a static screen isn't it ? If someone can tell me how to display the framecounter I'll be glad to hear it.

To Paronity: it is the game problem because this is the game that drain power from my GC this is not my GC that decide to over-heat all alone. Beside this problem doesn't occur with other games and it can endanger the GC.

Use Fraps/Dxtory or MSI Afterburner to display FPS.

It's not a problem with overheating, but I have noticed both my GPU's start to make a lot more noise than normal to the point where I lowered graphic settings.

You could use Afterburner/Precision to watch your temps too. See how hot they are actually getting. Is it a Kepler chip (GTX600 series)? What card are you using?

GC is a Saphire Radeon HD6800 @900Mhz with Catalyst 12.10
Isn't there a hidden key combo to display internal Frame-Counter (that would be very useful) ?

I'll try to log the Sensor to see the heating.

Tried checking your cards fan/the cooling itself? It may not even be the game so much as the environment you're PC is in.

Dust your PC out, let it cool for a bit & if it continues to happen post your dxdiag. & specs.
