Gain some altitude in an MH-8 and turn the engine off, at least 15 seconds of mid-air pause before any free-fall, and even after blades have stopped spinning a mere second is all you need to spin back up in mid air and get away.

At 250M in the MH-8 I could be suspended in air for around 10-20 seconds, upon dropping I could turn engine back on and fly away with no delays within seconds.
