Nitrado servers went down for 2 days, and now they are APPALLING.

Description

To the Developers at Bohemia Interactive,

I’ve been playing DayZ for over seven years, and I absolutely love it. Watching the game evolve into a standalone experience has been incredible. What’s even more impressive is how the development team has continued to listen to community feedback—that alone has kept me invested over the years. So, credit where it’s due: well done.

Now, I want to highlight an issue that’s really affecting the Australian community—server stability.

Around the 28th and 29th of April, Australian servers didn’t just experience issues—they went completely offline. After looking into it, we learned Nitrado was relocating or merging servers in their data centre. They stated this was to improve long-term server stability. Fair enough—but since then, it’s been anything but stable.

Right now, our only available servers (SY) seem to have been moved to a different data centre—likely a more convenient one for Nitrado—but the performance has noticeably dropped. Lag, desync, and weird animation bugs have become constant. One major issue I’ve personally experienced—and confirmed with others—is a strange “head twitch” or stutter that affects every character. At first, I assumed it was a sickness effect, then maybe a controller issue (even tested a brand new Elite controller). But when I linked up with a 3-man squad and *all of us* were experiencing the same thing, it became clear it’s server-side. A Reddit post I made about it drew multiple responses from other Aussie players with the exact same issue. It’s widespread.

This is a big deal because we no longer have a stable or high-quality option to play on. There’s no backup or alternative server here—we’re stuck with whatever is left. And for a game I genuinely love and have invested so much time into, this feels like a massive step backward.

Now, just to be clear: the Xbox rendering issue is a separate problem, but still worth mentioning. Since the server move, rendering on Xbox has been horrible—gear from teammates just 100m away flickers in and out. I had hoped the data centre upgrade might improve things like this, but it’s only gotten worse. It’s disappointing that players on a Series X are stuck with draw distances that feel more suited to an original Xbox One.

All I’m asking—on behalf of the Aussie community—is this: please restore proper, stable servers for Australia. If we only have a few to choose from, they need to be reliable. The experience has dropped significantly since the move, and it’s affecting the core gameplay loop.

Lastly, a quick quality-of-life suggestion: just like rags show “Disinfected” once treated, could we get something similar for water? A “Purified” tag or icon would be incredibly helpful. Bottles are constantly passed around—some treated, some used in radiators—and it’s easy to lose track of what’s safe.

Thanks again for your hard work and dedication to this game. I’m only giving this feedback because I genuinely care about DayZ and want to see it remain strong—especially here in Australia.

Sincerely,
A loyal DayZ player from Australia

Also, could you please provide us times (time/day/timezone) of these occurrences? What types of perf icons were appearing(and if?), any network issues etc.

And can you please do a traceroute towards any of the servers you have issues with?
