I picked up a derringer with two bullets in it. One of the bullets was floating outside of the gun, so I unloaded it and loaded it again to fix that visual glitch. When I did this, I was left with 2 bullets in my inventory, and two new bullets in the gun. I did it repeatedly to see if it would keep happening. It did.
