25U COMMO - Fix the whip antenna
New, NormalPublic

Description

As a former commo specialist, I find it absolutely frustrating that there's no option to lower the whip antenna on vehicles. This is completely ridiculous! During AIT at Fort Gordon, we were drilled daily on the importance of securing the antenna on vehicles, primarily to avoid low-hanging power lines. On islands like Everon or Arland, this could be a serious hazard, especially on those outdated, Cold War-era locations. The lack of consideration for this basic safety measure is baffling.

It would be a great addition if low-hanging power lines were incorporated into the game, and if hitting one while driving a vehicle with an upright whip antenna could damage the radios. Believe it or not, this actually happens more often than you'd think.

Here’s what I’d suggest:

  1. Allow players the option to lower the whip antenna and use a tie-down.
  2. Add a few low-hanging power lines to certain areas.
  3. When a vehicle with an upright whip antenna hits one of these lines, it could result in:
    • Radios being fried, including those carried by personnel.
    • The vehicle becoming inoperable.
    • Personnel taking damage, such as burns or concussions.
    • In some cases, all of the above or a combination of them.

This would bring another challenging element to the game.
