Missions with waypoints stopped working sometime last month on Linux Dedicated Server.
New, NormalPublic

Description

Issue:
Missions with waypoints stopped working sometime last month on Linux Dedicated Server.

How to reproduce:

  • Create basic mission.
  • No mods, no external maps.
  • Add any unit
  • Set a few waypoints(MOVE) and a CYCLE
  • Add a playable character as watcher.
  • Save scenario
  • Export as Multiplayer

Result:

  • Playing on EDEN Editor: OK
  • Playing on SinglePlayer Mission: OK
  • Playing on MultiPlayer Mission: OK
  • Playing on Linux dedicated Server: FAILS

Two situations have appeared on my testing.

Situation 1:
No units move.
Player is free to move on the whole map and even if it interacts with waypoints server doesn't crash. But units with set waypoints never move.

Situation 2:
No units move.
If player (as part of squad) follows waypoint the player gets stuck and "No message" appears on screen.
Server logs don't show anything strange
If player did not follow waypoints it can move/play freely on the whole map.
As soon as player follows first waypoint it gets stuck, "No message" appears on screen and after a few seconds server shutsdown WITH NO LOGS about crash or shutdown. Last log is "Game started".

Additional Information

I can provide log files and a simple mission but it should be trivial to reproduce

Notes: I discovered this issue on a custom map with many mods but made a new basic mission on Altis with no mods to discard issues with mod interactions. When i say "no mods" i mean no mods on server and no mods on client.

Client is Windows 64bit running in proton on Linux but also fails running natively on Windows.

Server is dedicated linux server installed via steamcmd. Profiling(Arma Linux Server, ver. 2.18.152567) and stable (Arma Linux Server, ver. 2.18.152405) versions were tested showing same situation.

Server was reinstalled on a different host with same result. Different installation, operating system and hardware.
