Steps To Reproduce
To reproduce it, I believe you need to log in and ask someone to join your party through Steam.
Then go into a match and regardless of the result, check the status of the other party member.
One of us will show up as still in the match.
Didn't check if this happens to trios, but happens almost every time when in a party of 2.
