Although these alterations were implemented without fanfare, they were swiftly noticed by the Fallout 76 community and have already sparked significant criticism from players.
The live-service RPG overhauled its previous Scoreboard system with the introduction of Season 16, Duel with the Devil, which spanned from late March to June 12. This update replaced the linear Scoreboard with a multi-page system akin to a battle pass, allowing players to selectively claim rewards of their choice. Season 16's Scoreboard proved contentious within Fallout 76 due to its perceived grindiness, which made acquiring all seasonal rewards a daunting task for players.
Season 17 of Fallout 76 continues to adhere to this design philosophy but introduces subtle adjustments that Bethesda appears to have implemented quietly. One notable change concerns the rewards on its final page, which, at first glance, resemble those of Season 16, focusing largely on utility rewards like Perk Coins and Lunchboxes. However, it has been discovered that not all of these rewards can be claimed multiple times, contrary to the previous season.
