BET: Blender Enfusion Tools do not connect to Enfusion Workbench. "Communication error with Workbench app" returned in Blender
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Blender Enfusion Tools do not connect to Enfusion Workbench. When trying to use the "Colliders Setup" feature the error "Communication error with Workbench app" is constantly returned.

I am now running Blender 3.6 and have Enfusion Workbench version 1.1.0.34 (with "Enable Net API" box ticked) on Windows 10.

I have tried:

  • uninstalling and reinstalling the Blender Enfusion Tools
  • uninstalling and reinstalling Blender
  • uninstalling and reinstalling Enfusion Workbench
  • ensuring that both Blender and Enfusion Workbench are listed under allowable apps in Windows Defender Firewall
  • turning the Windows Defender Firewall off

This is really frustrating and completely stopping me from progressing my modding project. I have no idea where to look to get this issue resolved. There is no information I can find online to get it fixed.

Appreciate your help. Thanks

Additional Information

The Blender Enfusion Tools were working fine for me for over a year up to at least Nov / Dec 2023, however, since using Blender again after January 2024, this error always pops up. There have been no changes made by me to my computer environment in this time.

@Geez, this problem has been resolved with the help of Reyhard. The cause of the problem was that Dell Support Assist service was using the same port (5700) as Workbench, which prevented communication with Blender. This seemed related to a Dell update sometime in Jan 2024. Stopping the service "Dell Support Assist" resolved the issue.
