Under no circumstances can a Humvee hood be attached to a Humvee that is missing one, by means of a controller player on Xbox Dayz.

Steps To Reproduce
1- Acquire a Humvee without a hood. "When you spawn a offroad_02 types into any server, it will not have any components attached."
2-Acquire a Humvee hood "Offroad_02_Hood".
3-Attempt to attach the Hood to the Humvee via "attach" prompt or vehicle parts slots.
Additional Information
I noticed this issue when trying to use the Dayz++ shop to order a Offroad_02 and its parts. This bot uses the types files to drop in an item at server restart. The Offroad_02 types file only includes the chassis of the Humvee with no parts attached. When you attempt to attach a hood to the vehicle "the only problem part" you simply cannot do it.
No prompts will be presented, and no slot is available on chassis. (using controler on Xbox, current Dayz version.)

I have logged numerous jobs for this. Ever since the offroad_02 became available in experimental I informed them. Nothing has been done yet.

IF it's a keyboard and mouse server, you can attach the hood my placing the hood in the inventory of the Humvee, then dragging the hood to the name of the inventory category and it will be attached to the Humvee.

@XMC_Cross doesn't help official servers or servers that only use handheld controller. These servers need an actual hood slot on the inventory screen.
