Arma 3, DayZ & Arma Reforger BSoD when Fanatec wheel plugged in and BattlEye is enabled.
New, NormalPublic

Description

Issue is that the PC crashes with BSoD with message KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE when I've my Fanatec hardware plugged in and I launch a game that has BattlEye anti-cheat enabled. I crashes right when the game is launched, it still allows launcher usage, so this is something related to BattlEye. It doesn't crash if I unplug my Fanatec hardware or I disable the BattlEye anti-cheat from the game, but of course then I can't go play in public multiplayer. Also remembering to unplug Fanatec hardware everytime I want to play the game(s) isn't nice and can't always remember to do that.

The games that at least have this issue are Arma 3, DayZ and Arma Reforger.

PC hardware:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 4,6GHz
  • G.Skill RipjawsX 2x8,0GB @ CL9 2133MHz
  • Zotac RTX 3080 12GB (GA102 (LHR))
  • System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows:

  • Edition: Windows 10 Pro
  • Version: 21H2
  • OS build: 19044.2728
  • Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

Fanatec Hardware:

  • Gran Turismo DD Pro Wheel Base
  • ClubSport Universal Hub Xbox V2

I tried to message BattlEye this issue because it's something with their anti-cheat software and your drivers/firmware/hardware conflict and maybe something to do with some specific games they support, but obviously didn't get any response and it hasn't been fixed in after reporting it months ago.

Additional Information

This happened also months ago. I today messaged Fanatec this issue also. If you could repro and communicate between you, BattlEye and Fanatec, it would be nice. I'm waiting for info from Fanatec also if I should try some very old driver/firmware or something like that because I'm not going to go through every driver/firmware. So far it happens with latest 447 driver and it's latest firmwares and also with 450 release candidate drivers and firmwares.

Log files collected by Fanatec Driver.

Also if I remember right this didn't happen in the 2022 Summer-Autumn, so some update happened after that.

StJimmy renamed this task from Arma 3 & Arma Reforger BSoD when Fanatec wheel plugged in and BattlEye is enabled. to Arma 3, DayZ & Arma Reforger BSoD when Fanatec wheel plugged in and BattlEye is enabled..Mar 26 2023, 6:03 PM

Also it happens in DayZ. Somehow had the wheel at Xbox mode and not in PC mode first when I tried.

Here's thread and post by me and looks like Fanatec has tried to see where the issue is for some time.

This is an issue which gets reported for years by a VERY few people and does definitely not affect everyone and every BattleEye game.

In fact, this was investigated internally but could not get reproduced even once so the root cause of this issue is totally unknown and must be something very specific on some very specific PCs...

I've now gone through installing the Fanatec drivers from 412 up to 447 and 450 current versions. It's now not crashing if I've my wheel plugged in. But it's crashing now if I've my ClubSport V3 Pedals plugged in, so it went to completely opposite now.

Someone else also had the same issue a while ago https://forum.fanatec.com/discussion/838/fanatec-products-cause-bsod-with-battleye

I can now put the pedals in the wheel base without crashes. Using as a separate USB it's causing crashes.
