When radar locked to a target, the guns don't go in the direction of the target, instead, they go to a point where placing the crosshair of the gunsight over the target guarantees a hit. IIRC this is option "2" in the fire control system configs. Sometimes a solid square would show around the target instead of the broken square.

Steps To Reproduce
Hop in F-100D or MiG-19, radar lock a target, select guns, point crosshair at target, and fire. Easier to observe if in a "two circle" dogfight rather than head-on or a straight-line chase.
