IED's cant be buried in the protective case since its considered compromised i guess since it has a giant hole in it but if you take a constructed IED and place it in a wooden crate you can then bury it.

The explosive can be detonated as well while underground causing damage above ground.

Dont know if this is a bug or a feature.
