When using a syringe, i had O+ blood on my character, and injected myself with the same O+ blood from just a few hours ago, i immediately threw up blood, and went uncon only to die a few seconds later. The syringe also does not show up visibly in your backpack, only a blank space with the number 2 in the corner to show where it’s located. Once taken to your hands you can see it, put it back in your back and perform any action after that and it will be invisible again.

Inject it when you’re in the middle of a bad situation.
Get dayZ’d and die for it after spending hours gearing up.

Was this on a community server? Because syringes do not spawn on the vanilla/official servers. It is an unreleased item which is in the gamefiles but never has been properly configured nor implemented. Spawning it on the server will possibly cause issues such as you described (or worse - such as server crashes).
