1.17 Experimental Cannot use X button to move equipped items to inventory
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

While in inventory menu on 1.17 Experimental, items equipped to character cannot be moved into inventory by hitting X button even when there is available space to store items. Also the controls guide located on the bottom ribbon while hovering over shoulder slots is also missing the option “x button to inventory”.

For other slots (eg gloves, hat, mask, armband, boots) the controls guide on bottom ribbon while hovering over these slots does have the option “x button to inventory”, however these items also do not move when using x button even when there is available space in other inventory slots.

Additional Information

-update 20.04.2022: I’ve been playing on official servers with the 1.17 update and noticed that there still is no option to move equipped items into inventory by hitting the x button. The menu now doesn’t show hit x as an option at all to move equipped items to inventory, so my next question is - why remove the option to move items especially from shoulder slots into inventory? The only option now is to take equipped items to hands, or drop on the ground, THEN move to inventory. The inventory management system is already inherently bad for console/controller users. Why take away options that made inventory management somewhat good?

Event Timeline

This is definitely needing a fix hopefully before this patch comes to stable. Especially because when switching from a two handed melee weapon to a gun stored on the right or left shoulder the two handed melee weapon (or other weapon like a scorpion that takes up less item slots) will then be stored on the shoulder and if there are not enough slots available you then will not be able to stow the weapon in your hands without dropping or dragging the other item into clothing or backpack slots.
