I first encountered this error when I purchased and downloaded DayZ and chose a vanilla server to opt into. After this first occurrence, I closed and re-opened Steam, opened DayZ, pressed play, another crash. I have also tried verifying all the game files and deleting the DayZ file in Documents, reinstalling DayZ, trying old methods posted in discussions on the community troubleshooting, all of these attempted fixes failed.
