When playing as the commander of an M41 Bulldog, especially when in first-person only, it can be difficult to operate the tank since when you open the hatch to let yourself out, instead of being able to take out your binoculars/fire your weapon (like pretty much every other tank in the base game), you end up stuck manning the M2 Browning.
This is really annoying since a tank commander needs to peak out of the tank to scout and designate targets with the binoculars for example.
The use of the M2 Browning should be an option, not something mandatory as it is now (and it's not very realistic), it breaks the tank gameplay when you want to play realistically.

Vehicle Encoder Apollo replied the following:
//This was an initial design decision.
There are no FFV options for players on weapon stations in vanilla, so it is not a feature of the standard game.
Technically it is possible to do, as shown by GM cdlc and some mods, but it requires relatively complex scripting solutions which are not without their own issues in certain circumstances. Made more complicated on tanks, because these player positions are themselves within rotating main turrets.
In the case of the Walker Bulldog, the Commander already has very good visibility when turned-in, via the 360 deg view ports and a dedicated (limited turn) periscope with zoom aligned with the main gun to aid the gunner. When turned out and manning the M2, he can still use free-look to see all around and has 'zoom' on his view.//
We may look into it again in the future but it's currently not very high on the priority list.
Best Regards,
