Client drops to and maintains 0-4 FPS after Alt-Tabbing

Hey there,

For the last 7 months, I have experienced in issue in which ARMA will drop to 0-4 FPS after alt-tabbing. The FPS drop is constant and persists after restarting a game. Only time (20-30 minute wait) or a system restart resolves the issue. It is inconsistent that it does not occur after every instance of alt-tabbing. Sometimes it is immediate, and sometimes it occurs after hours of constant alt-tabbing (missionmaking & SQF work). RPT logs do not appear to indicate the issue.

The issue occurs in all 3 display modes and at 4k & 1080 resolutions. Switching display modes works as a temporary workaround, but not consistently. I normally run 3 monitors (not triple-heading), but the issue still occurs if I disconnect 2 of them.

The issues has persisted after a full system reformat. I will include my system information in Additional Information.

All drives are up to date (including BIOS, chipset, etc).

I generally achieve 55-60 FPS during gameplay at Ultra settings with a view distance of 6k on foot. In the main menu, my FPS exceeds 200. The issue occurs anywhere -- in game, in the editor, and in the main menu.

While the issue is occurring and ARMA is in focus, the application uses 100% of my GPU. Once the application is out of focus again, it drops to essentially 0% GPU utilization.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Start the application.
  2. Alt-tab.
  3. Return focus to the application.
  4. Repeat 2 & 3 until issue occurs. This may take 1 attempt or 100, but it will inevitably occur.
  5. Exit the game (Alt-F4 or terminate task via task manager)
  6. Start the application
  7. Issue will persist.
