Won't let me connect to the server I was playing on previous to the 1.09 update. I can make a new character on a new server but I can't connect to the server I was playing on (dayZ AP - SY 1023)

log into steam
launch dayZ
Click play (connecting to the previous server)
Connecting failed (An unknown error has occurred)
Additional Information
while servers were down for the update I bought the DLC. the server I want to load into says mods for Livonia but I was playing on it before I had the DLC on 1.08.
