A couple of weeks ago, you spent a free weekend for Dayz. It was a great event to identify the main problem of the game - a high entry threshold and hostility for new players. Many players simply don’t know the commonplace things, I’m not talking about how to find food in the game world, but at least about how to keep warm. Getting sticks from the bush is a great thing, but breaking the shirt with your hands can also bring the game back. (Sticks + rag = fireplace). You can say that you can find the bark of a tree, but few people think of it.
What I propose: the most ambitious is to offer training before starting the game. There will be basic things: How to fight, handle weapons and how to get food. Advanced, types of loot and where it can be found, fishing, hunting and gardening. As a platform, you can use a small island, which is near Kamyshovo, nothing to redo, and to interact with the player - add visual cues with the output to the monitor.
Also, add various posters with crafting a fireplace, fishing rods, backpacks to recreation areas on hiking trails. Information on the work of medication is similarly pasted on the walls of hospitals and hospitals.
And most importantly, organize an introductory screen saver in which, at least, the goal of survival is set in black and white. Something of a kind: you will die in any case, but it is within your power to make an effort to last longer.
The game cannot live on old players with the Dayz Mod, a growth of a million copies - confirms that you are working in the right direction - graphic and gameplay adaptation to modern realities. There are many more questions about how 60 people can “meet” on a 225km2 map, why there is so little loot on the coast. But this is not as critical as a high threshold for entering the game.
I love Dayz and I bought it twice because I was a cheater. And I will buy it for the third time at a discount, because this is the game in which I would spend more than 4-5 hours a day. But I also want to share this with everyone else who is playing now and does not even think about this game. Now the maximum black PR company for this game is due to the situation with the virus, but this is also your chance to show how hard it is to survive in a world where people did not wash their hands.
P.S. Watched Sword Master Online, is this anime? I hope that I can live to see the transition into a game with full immersion.
