This happens from time to time and I have no idea what the cause is. Your gun is held in the hand as though it's a can of beans or something. You can shoot, but the bullets go where the gun is pointing, so pretty useless. You can't switch weapons, when you drop it and pick it back up or use a different item does not work. The only solution is to simply relog.
