I've observed if you re-position a construction light out of range of the cable reel, the game displays message "The plug was ripped out!"

Nothing else I know of gives you in-game updates to what your character is doing apart from 'You are dead.'

An audio alert should be configured so you know the item has become unplugged (potentially needs repair from the Electrical Repair Kit) but the in-game message should not be there.
