Spectator Nametag / Group Icon Spacing

Description

In default BI spectator nametags appear to be rendered a fixed distance above the top of players and vehicles. While a good quick solution, zooming in to the point where you're up against a player or vehicle often means that the nametag is completely out of view. This can make it hard to identify people in spectator unless you take a moment to zoom out.

A better solution to spacing nametags (and drawIcon3D stuff in general) can be found below.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Open up the Editor and make a multiplayer scenario.
  2. Ensure the respawn templates are setup to allow for vanilla spectator with freecam.
  3. Get in game. Die. Switch to spectator.
  4. Look at a unit from afar. Notice that the icon may overlap the unit it's representing.
  5. Look at a unit from midrange. The icon should appear well-spaced.
  6. Look at a unit from up close. The icon may appear near the top of the screen or offscreen completely.
