this is actually not a bug. To get the range with the rangefinder, you now need to use Lase Target, default key for this is T.

This new functionality has not been documented.

Thanks for reminder about BIKI. The ingame field manual hint has been updated together with the change.

Still does not work.

I tried using it with no mods and also with batteries. Nothing happens when pressing T and I could not find the key binding for it under controls

The action can be found under Controls, Weapon - "Lase Range"

Yep, figured it out. Apparently, it was set to backslash, for some reason.
