Out of Memory Crash since 1.66 "Memory Update"
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Myself and two others are having frequent "Out of Memory" crashes to desktop since update 1.66.

Each of us are on Windows 10 x64.
Each of us have either 16 or 32 GB of RAM with no additional applications concurrently using more than a few MB.
Cards in use are GTX770s and a GTX1080.

Possibly related: also since 1.66, experiencing huge lag spikes causing all textures and objects to have to be reloaded. i.e. the game world suddenly becomes objectless, just barren green ground texture, player model has about 3 surfaces, looks like Army Men 3D. Objects polygons and textures all reload after about 10 - 20 seconds. (Maybe I should open a second ticket, but both of these started since 1.66 and both would appear to be memory related).

I estimate crashes happen once every 5 hours of gameplay, "reload" occurs once every 3 hours of gameplay.

Also worth noting:

  • Lag only happens to one of us at a time, there are no apparent server related issues here.
  • "Out of Memory" crash only happens to one of us at a time, there are no apparent server related issues here either.
  • Lag and crash do not generally co-occur: game can lag and "reload" without crashing. Game can just crash without lagging.
  • Does not happen to others with very similar specs, and only started happening to some after several weeks of playing on 1.66.

also, try these possible solutions:

Try restarting your computer and then verifying the integrity of the game cache for Arma 3.

  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
  4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

Try all of the possible solutions listed on the Arma 3 Unusual process exit article on the Bohemia Interactive Community Wiki.

Try switching to and playing on the profiling game branch. After downloading new data verify the integrity of the game cache.

• profiling branch (special performance + profiling build - requires access code: CautionSpecialProfilingAndTestingBranchArma3), alternative download of needed binary possible from Dwarden's dropbox

Try to delete your profile folder (create a backup) a try to start the game.

The file yourprofilename.vars.Arma3Profile must be deleted.
Path: C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Arma 3

So, there is some next solutions.

try to decrease your graphic quality (if you're using ultra set high or medium). It´s possible that your have no more space on your GPU.
reinstall your GPU drivers
